Please log in to our website to see how user friendly it is and sign up to receive notifications of new posts by email. Our website is also linked to Face Book and Twitter. In addition, we have a new dedicated email address AADCHSR@aol.com. We will be keeping our website updated with important announcements and news related to the High Speed Rail. We welcome your suggestions and ideas for our website and hope that the website will continue to be a dependable source of information for our community.
A small victory for the opponents of the HSR occurred on May 16, 2013 when State officials agreed to drop a request to consolidate all lawsuits challenging California voter’s use of $10 billion in bonds for construction of the HSR. This allows the Proposition 1A lawsuit filed in 2011 in Kings County to begin hearing arguments May 31, 2013 against spending voter-approved bond money for construction of this project as currently proposed. In accordance with this lawsuit, the current high-speed rail plans do not comply with the requirements voters approved in 2008 when they passed Prop 1A. If successful, this lawsuit will halt the HSR project. In the event that this lawsuit fails, we, as a community, need to be ready for Plan B.
Our group “Acton and Agua Dulce High Speed Rail” will be hosting a booth at the June 2, 2013 Chamber of Commerce Car Show at Thousand Trails. Come support our efforts and take a look at the maps of the proposed HSR alignments through Acton and Agua Dulce. We will have volunteers available to answer your questions regarding the negative impacts of the High Speed Rail on our community.
We will soon be launching a campaign to raise money for the preparation and response to the High Speed Rail DRAFT EIR. We will need to retain an attorney and hire the various environmentalists, scientists, engineers, etc to defend and protect our community against the negative impacts of the HSR. The expense involved is considerable.
On May 18, 2013, the High Speed Rail Authority launched a new and updated website. Their new web address is hsr.ca.gov. Their old website highspeedrail.ca.gov will run in parallel with the new website for a short time period. The HSRA website indicates that Acton and Agua Dulce are included in phase 1 of the HSR construction project!
Please report any concerns of trespass onto your property by the High Speed Rail Authority or their contractors to the Palmdale Sheriff Department 661-272-2400. Do not take the law into your own hands!
We are considering entering a float for the 4th of July parade to further educate our community and bring attention to the High Speed Rail. We are discovering that a substantial number of community members are still not aware that a train is coming through! We look forward to the assistance of any interested parties in the development and assembly of our float.
As always, we appreciate the community support we have received in our fight against the High Speed Rail. We solicit and welcome the aid and expertise of any and all community members interested in donating time and energy to this worthy cause.
